Non-electric lighting ?

Post by The-Great-Nothing »

Wow, I really want to make/buy a clock work lamp! (and not just because steampunk is awesome!)

Shame there is no link to a price. No idea how to make it....research needed!

Cheers

Brilliant lamp but, I think the lamp is a "concept" rather than a production item.

Surely you could butcher one of the wind up radios to do something similar? Great concept though :)

My hurricane lamp arrived today from ebay.

Its bloody small, but looks a tidy bit of kit, came with a little funnel and a spare wick, will pop down to B&Q early next week and get some paraffin, and give her a run out :)

Worth a punt for a fiver, nothing ventured nothing gained.

Rayman

when you say small, how small?

Could you take some pictures with something else so we can get an idea of scale please.

Hi WW, Yeah, from base to top (not includind the carrying handle) it is 7 inches high.

Can't take pics at the moment, but will give the lantern a run out as soon as I get some paraffin, however, it is a small , very small lantern.

Mind you, I think one of these would suite around the house, in a power cut this thing should be able to light enough to see you ok from room to room.

Will update once ive tested it.
