Been talking about this elsewhere. Our jerry cans are already full although ironically we have three vehicles none of which are currently on the road , one SORN , one undrivable and the other an mot fail but this didn't stop my wife asking if I'd kept the cans full.
Going back to buying fuel I've noticed longer than normal queues at the local petrol ststion . The question arose as to whether that is panic buying or buying shrewdly in the expectation that prices are going to jump upwards?

First day of the kick off the local rag was printing about the long queues at the pumps completely omitting the FACT  that the other filling station was temporarily shut due to a problem hence other filling station was going to be busier :tinfoil the half Witt journalism really does cause many problems....

Having a "soft" blackout night testing alternative lighting without scaring the kids the 11yo is doing ww2 at school so it's sinking in very rapidly about the Ukrainian situation the 4 yo is also uneasy about the war and the "German bombers"
The curriculum must be the same nationwide; my wife is a primary teacher, and has kids thinking we will suffer a WW2 blitz.I can remember when the NATO alllies went into Iraq and our ( then) young children were scared witless because of news reports.
I can remember pre gulf war 1 the RAF using this area as a training area as it's flat the warf at the other side of the river must have been a target or waypoint the tornadoes used to scream over the school on a very regular basis..

We've got through to the 4 yo that the German bombers are now on our team I mean who ever taught him the 10 German bombers in the air "football song" might have made a mistake school wasn't impressed    it got him counting backwards though ;)

Last night's lighting preps highlighted the China equivalent to the Phillips life lights don't last anywhere near as long as the Philips.. the Philips were still showing 3x power lights "full" after the China lights had shut down .. so much for the "at least 8 to 10 hours run time"

The only advantages are that the batteries are in the lamp heads so you can unplug it and place it anywhere at night .. and they have a PIR mode might be better on the traffic areas hallway and landing for example
I have a similar set up to that. I am going to have a play with my 21w folding panel today ( we have sun!) It’s similar to your Lidl version.I picked up a USB battery charger,as per your little tutorial,so we’ll see where that goes. The ability to charge batteries and power packs is what I am looking at.

Are worth the £3 lets you see how much the angle affects the charge rate if nothing else....

I got in trouble this morning I put my usb speaker on charge as it was flat flat...... Plugged it in last night on the bedroom window sill plugged Into the usb solar charger. 7 am this morning there was some funny popping and clicking sounds the wife shot out of bed wondering what was going on then told me off (I'd left it turned on as the sun came up it started coming to life picking up the RF interference from the solar charger

Goes to show how easily lead some people are. I have noticed on social media that the talk is largely about large price increases rather than any sort of scarcity although of course the net result can be the same , demand outstripping supply for a little while just the same as last time although that in itself poses the question of why people haven't learnt to keep their tanks full .

I'm finally getting my dehydrator back into action - I stored it without cleaning it when I had a chronic fatigue attack last year, and ... I'm not going to write down on this forum how disgusting it was. But I have a supermarket delivery on Wednesday, and the freezer is still fairly full, so I really, really need to get dehydrating, I don't want to put this delivery off.

Sawed through another shelf on the piece of the bookshelf that I'm dismantling, I can only do one a day. Its only about a foot of good-quality mdf, its horrifyingly little, but I did two shelves on the first day, and every lymph gland in my body told me I was a fool. It'll get done by this time next week though.

After last night's loss of lighting I've pulled a spare set of Philips life lights out the shed and put them up to try tonight

Decided from now on, any new clothes I buy will be thermals. Ready for next winter's price hikes

Found a place that does very reasonable mantles for "Bullfinch" lanterns ( I really like these - the old "site lights" for tradespeople before battery lights took over) so bought a few. The one trouble with mantle lights is that, whilst bright, the mantles are fragile once "burned in". I remember caravanning 50 odd years ago with gas lighting - my Dad was like he'd won a prize if a mantle survived towing
