Wot?

I've just done a recce this afternoon and the local ones are at least a week off picking. But I agree this year looks to be a bumper year. Last year we only had enough to make some tarts. This year I'm going for tarts/jam/freezing.

It is silly for food to go to waste.
Same here ... for all the fruits I pick ... and already, when I pick blackberries, there are some that have got mould on them, or rotted, and some fall off when I pick the one next door because they're well over-ripe. Its all just early early early!

I read somewhere that elderberries compliment blackberries in a jam. Must give it a go sometime.

Been collecting apples, blackberries, hawthorn berries, elderberries, rosehips and yellow plums. Tomorrow, more berries and more jam making, pie, crumble. Found a hedge of sloes and more apples and plum trees!! Just as we'll sugar is cheap now! I'm also making ginger beer. My daughter and I made amazing blackberry muffins yesterday. Just need to dig out my old recipe for home-made crumpets... Umf...Umf...munch..

Hey folks,

how's about a recipe section, there's got to be many variations of more or less the same thing, and I think a lot of age old recipes have been lost or forgotten. Maybe we could revive a few? I personally think it's pertinent to our way of life. What do you guys think?

All the best,

Daz

Good idea. There are a good amount of recipes from the WWII rationing era that are very useful for peppers.
