Rainwater Hub

Post by SkyWatcher »

Just came across this and am very tempted to get one. Once fixed to the house I could then connect several water butts and collect the rainwater for drinking (once purified!) According to the site I could situate the butts anywhere up to 150 feet from the hub. Just thinking I could put a couple in my shed and nobody would be none the wiser!

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Once the SHTF thousands of other people are gonna want the same as you. What do you think your chances are of getting it?.......

Now that's clever.:)
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

I like that very clever , only draw back I could see is like my in-laws house that's an older property that shares a drain with next door which the down pipe runs into is on the property line, I guess you would have to ask them if you could fit it ! they might even share the cost it looks like it has an outlet on both sides

I like the idea and would have gone an ordered a couple then saw the price. I think I will wait until they come down in price.

That kinda put me off as well Junmist. Wonder if I could make something similar myself, doesn't look too hard actually!

jbird you don't need an over flow! when the water buts are full you turn the hose connection off!

I thought the same thing. From the "how it works" section it looks like you can make something similar from a 5 liter water bottle and a bit of plastic piping. It'd be ugly but it'd do the job.

Think I'll keep an eye out for something suitable next time I'm in a diy store! Can't imagine it would be too hard :D
