Got me an Allotment.
Got me an Allotment.
Having heard how difficult it is to get one, I was fully expecting a looooong wait. Imagine my surprise when I phoned the Allotment chap and got one straight away! well half of one anyway, it's plenty big enough. It has a shed, a couple waterbutts and in the main is not too weedy. Should have enough room to get some summer stuff in and then a good winter garden. Next year will be great!

Great stuff! The independence and quality this will provide you with is awesome. Enjoy it.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Re: Got me an Allotment.
Certainly jealous here too!!! Will keep plugging away at the small patches I have in the back garden this year.
Re: Got me an Allotment.
I really wasn't expecting one straight away, but according to Dai(Allotment chief) the yummy mummies with their designer wellies and magic seeds couldn't cope with mud and hard work!
I've had veg gardens for years, but the move into a flat meant no more gardening.

Re: Got me an Allotment.
Congratulations - last year was too wet for most things really, root crops rotted in the ground, and anything above got desimated by slugs. I gave up hope in July, and decided to dig the whole lot over and let it rest. Hopefully this year will be more clement.

Re: Got me an Allotment.
great news hope it goes well. do you know if club roote is a problem it took me about 3 years to get rid of it but knowing it was in my soil made it easier to plan without effecting the quantity i wanted. Also any problems with theft ive had a bad year with theifs i grow about 3 times more than i need so it as not effected my own family much, but i like to give a lot away to friends The other allotment olders are always good for advice & a chat.Best of luck happy days ahead
Re: Got me an Allotment.
I've no idea what pests and diseases lurk, so I plan on planting a wide variety of things and that should give me an idea of what I'm up against. Apparently the chap who used to have it was an old boy who really cared for it, the people after him had it 18months or so and gave up, just enough time for the plot to go to pot. Hey ho
