Lekke out, nowt working, bugger!!!

Post by LiveLong&Prosper »

Just had a "power out" for best part of the day, I had a few candles and a small torch and managed to find an old hexi burner for a cuppa. :D

Although Ive just been caught with my pants down. lol. It wont happen again, hmm not quite sure about that one, got a long way to go before I feel back in control.

Well just starting in anyway, to the dismayed looks from my wife. Hi to all others.

Had my neighbors all complaining that it was ridiculous and a disgrace that the power was off for so long, this sort of thing shouldn't happen these days is all I heard as my wife joined in.

All I kept thinking of is; what would happen if no one came? or worse, no one would dare come!!

Only one day and people were on the streets gossiping and complaining, how long before their community spirit took a distinctly human turn! Im guessing not so long if history has anything to go by.

Hi peep's :D

Hello and welcome to the fourm.

Isn't it funny that something as simple as no electric can give us the kick up the bum that we need to become more prepared. Your wife may think you're a bit of a nutter now but she will thank you for it some day. :D

Eventually I am going to invest in 4 "kelly kettles" AKA "twig kettles"so that I can always have hot water for washing, washing up and beverages. They "work" on twigs as fuel in the base and so you can use them even in a fuel shortage so long as you have some dry wood or can cut down a few chair legs etc  and you might be able to use them on a trangea ethanol burner too. You can reuse the heat that comes out of the top for small cooking too thus making them highly efficient for camping equipment.
