Greetings from Mid Wales

Post by mike-rutland »

Hello

I would like to introduce myself to you all. I have been looking around the whole subject of prepping now for a while, and a recent change in my health has caused me to start prepping in earnest due to the severe lack of funding i now get!

Up until recently, i designed accommodation for hospitals and other health care premises, ironic really as now i am in need of the very buildings i helped design.

in my spare time (ha - there's a joke) i also write articles for a national magazine on Homefarming skills. My main subject i write on (as can be seen in my post on preserving meat) is on cookery and kitchen skills such as preserving, cheese making, smoking and curing and sausage / salami curing.

I now live in Mid Wales, where i rent a small terraced house and i also rent a small (3 acres) field nearby where i grow a lot of my own vegetables, raise poultry and also a couple of goats.

So all in all, i am trying to use this break in my life to reset my priorities, build up my skill sets and develop a way to provide my families food and sustenance without the reliance on the big bad world outside!

I am looking for help and advice and i am quite happy to give any advice or help that i can in exchange!

Thanks for reading

Mike

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I think most of us would look forward to reading about preserving food. I, for one, rely too heavily on my freezer so I may well be picking your brains.
Hope we can help you on your prepping journey.

Hey Mike, welcome to UKP. Sounds like you've got a pretty good set up going there.
