Since joining this forum in November last year, I've revamped my shopping list quite a lot to include most of Sainsbury own name label items (Sainsbury is the closest shop to me so I don't need to spend too much money on petrol).
Red Label Tea Bags box of 40 - 80p
Digestive Biscuits - 69p
Rich Tea Biscuits - 49p
Strawberry Yoghurt - 15p
Sainsbury Conditioning hand and nail lotion - 89p
This is just an example of what I buy on a weekly basis - from spending a fortune on PG Tea bags, I've cut it down by over £1, and the same with the biscuits - at least 60p cheaper than the McVite variety.
I've also got into the habbit when treating myself to a starbucks coffee, to taking 2 extra sugar or sweetner sachets that I really need and have a nice little collection of them at home for emergencies.

Keep an eye out for the stirring sticks, salt and pepper sachets as well, also the sauce sachets, all very useful for a snack and drink bag for when you are on the move or out for a ramble.I've also got into the habbit when treating myself to a starbucks coffee, to taking 2 extra sugar or sweetner sachets that I really need and have a nice little collection of them at home for emergencies.
We have used Respirator bags for making these up.
Even cheaper than tea bags is loose tea, and a diffuser, it might only be 2p for a tea bag but £1.35 for 250g that's just over 8oz.

Laura, all my preps are Sainsbugs Basics. The tea is fine, and I drink a lot of tea and am quite fussy. The biscuits too, OH eats them. Also tins of peaches - try them. Huge fat gorgeous peaches for 30-odd pence. We also buy the porridge but not the Basics one, just Sainsbugs own brand in a blue bag. Basics choc is lovely too and very cheap, they do milk and white choc.Tins of beans & sausage are 30-odd pence and very handy for a filler-upper. And washing up liq at 35p.

Gnole, I got a plastic fold up spoon the other day from some fruit and cereal combo that I bought, and have now put it, together with some sugar packs and those hand cleaner things you get from KFC and the like into a little zip it plastic bag and it is in my handbag. My daughter found it yesterday while driving home from sainsbury, and decided it would be a good idea to eat her custard pot on the way home instead of waiting until she got home - she was very impressed with me for having it on hand.

Lil - what's the washing up liquid like, is it as good as the more expensive offerings?

What I do is buy the posh stuff when its on offer, then dilute it with Sainbugs one. Then you still get the nice smell but it goes a lot further

ASDA's own brand of Bourbon biscuits are on offer at the moment for 24p a packet. I counted them and there are 17 biscuits in each pack.
A cheap source for your chocolate addiction and cocoa is a fruit so it counts as one of your 5 a day.
