We are currently searching for a property in rural Kent, our budget is limited to 250,000 so this means moving quite a distance from London which is where we both work. We are looking forward to reading through this forum and corresponding with like minded people; we have a lot to learn and I think we are at a very important stage of setting the foundations of a new start which is safer.

Hello from Croydon
Hello all. From the title you can see that we currently live in Croydon
, this is not for long as we are hoping to find a secure property in Kent. We have been working towards the move for some time and now it is within reach, this plan pre-dates the Summer Riots, but they certainly re-inforced our healthy paranoia of how fast things are moving in the wrong direction. It was a very frightening experience for us to see civil un-rest so close up and not having any police presence created a feeling of total helplessness. The part of Croydon we live in was very close to the no go area near London Road, we spent the whole night watching a large number of buildings and premises burn. Contrary to how the media reported the riots, Croydon was the worst hit and it was heartbreaking to find that a good friend of ours lost his business and everything he owned.

Welcome to the forum!
Good luck with your move to rural Kent! There are a few of us on here from Kent, and there are also a few of us who do that daily trek into London too..
