Despite considering myself a not too bad cook, I've now learned I have no real clue what to do with huge quantities of beans and lentils

That I now have to take age and health into account, in contrast to past years where I believed I could survive just about anything. ;)

The biggest surprize for me is that people talk about floods in Australia (for example), and how terrible it is, watching it on the TV, but they don't realize the sugar harvest has been decimated, and sugar prices will rise, and that there is going to be 2.5% tariff on sugar next month for us here in Denmark! Even I didn't see that tariff coming, good thing I prepped!

Running a prepping forum is like herding cats.

There are lots of nut jobs interested in prepping.

You can't please everyone, all of the time.

You can find 'evidence' to support your 'argument' no matter what your standpoint is.

How seperated from nature we are, and how very reliant we are on systems.
