From the Marches

Post by david64 »

Evening,

I was told to pop in here as a newbie. Is this part of some dastardly ritual? Are you going to make me reveal my left breast and roll up my right trouser leg while blindfolded with a noose round my neck?

I live in the part of the Isles known as The Welsh Marches, which luckily has a very sparse population compared with the rest of the country. There are no cities here, market towns are as big as you get.

Since I was 15 I have been absconding from the degeneracy and decay of mainstream living that I was reared into; not because I had read books telling me of their ways, but simply through realisation thereof. It all started with my realisation that crisps are junk food and spread from there to TV, cars, fiat currency - the works. I am not plugged into anything and my mark on corporate and state records would be scant.

Since I was 16, I have been a "collapse theorist", starting with the notion that there will be no pensions when I am of age to pick one up. I would even argue there are no pensions now, as there is a deficit of more than £300 billion. However, it has only been in the last few years I have been really heavily pondering possible future scenarios where there is no food supply etc.

Other than mental preparations, my current preparations are quite scant. I have some jars and bottles and a bit of water on the consumables front. The main thing I have been working on is downloading books on everything from building barns, to child birth to shoemaking to gunsmithing to ensure I have access to reference in a future where such information might be hard to come across.

I am a gold bug and reaping the benefits of having gone all in. My main interests are cycling, local history, the history of overlordism, slavery tyranny etc., history of banking and genealogy. I am of vigorously independent stock, descended from people who were by-and-large self sufficient; and contrary to the notion that everyone in the past were toothless simpletons, I would argue that my lot were in many ways light years ahead of contemporary man. Unfortunately because of the changes in the last 100 years, it is now next to impossible to exercise an independent lifestyle. Most of my friends are slaves on the plantation - with useless degrees that no one will employ them for, 5 figures in debt, working in jobs where they don't get a pay rise when they get promoted.

Wow,

Hello and welcome to the Forum. :D

Great intro, makes mine pale into insignificance

No rituals to speak of except chocolate and/or cake apparently
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Wow definately looks the most appropriate, along with welcome. :)

Good evening and welcome david64.
You will find a wealth of useful prepping information and advice here.
You sound as though you're already off to a good start though with your library of reference books; this is an area of prepping that is of great importance but which can so easily be overlooked. Mental preparations are also a concomitant and very necessary part of the prepping process, so I reckon you're already well on the way.

Welcome to the forum fella,

Whilst not having many physical preps at present don't worry, we all had to start some where.

Knowledge is a key element of prepping and the more that one can do to expand their knowledge base along with the physical preps the better preppared one will be.

We're all a friendly bunch here, you should fit right in.
