Whats the biggest hole in your preps

I was just wondering what people think is the biggest hole in their preps. I'm not talking about finance as a a "prep" though because that is a limiting factor for probably all of us, but what "prep" is the lack of finance particularly affecting ?

Obviously finance can affect all areas of prepping but some things are cheap and easy to get round, others aren't. It may not be finance that is the issue, anything can prevent you prepping, but what particular "prep" are you most concerned about ?

For me it is food. I have enough that we could stretch things to maybe 8 weeks with what is in the house and what is stored but I never seem to make big inroads. If you buy an extra 9 tins of food that would only give a family of 2 people 1 extra days worth of food. I really need to get my arse in gear and buy a couple of 20kg bags of rice and a sack of grain but there is always something else that comes up.

So whats your biggest problem ?

a good question cc mine would be not knowing how many of my immediate family would come to me for help. I would have at least 4 and maybe 4 more. These numbers would throw all my planning out of the window and the impact on what food i have would be huge.
I cant see a way to win in this situation except to empty the supermarket at the first signs of a problem.

Ooooh good question. I think the lack of a well organised veggie garden really... lack of labour to dig it and lack of money to buy plants for it. Too much space is wasted on grass.
We dont need a great huge store cupboard, we eat really plain & simple stuff. Just the basics. It makes life easier in the end lol

Bug out stuff and camping eqiupment. I don't even have a tent. Although, my plan is to stay put - I honestly can't envisage any long-term scenario that would require me to set up home in the woods.

And veggies - I plan to grow much more next year.

Far too much to mention as it all revolves aroud lack of money

However, mine would be alternative cooking facilities. Not enough camping gaz, or BBQ fuel. Need to consider an oven type thingy as well as sturdy pots. Happy to light a campfire but don't have the equipment to cook over it (YET )

I just can't do without a cuppa and a piece of cake when under stress...........

Medical supplies, I could do with more books and a wider range of drugs (legal).

For me it's the lack of food! Don't have the storage for it so don't really gather much but am planning to build a house next year and lots of storage for preps is planned

I'm in a very similar situation to buttystella on this one. I have several months food supplies for the OH and myself but if the SHTF bigtime then I suspect I'd be feeding several more mouths than just ours. If all the immediate family descended on us or made their way to our BOL our food stocks would suddenly look woefully inadequate. Quite a poser, which I haven't been able to solve as yet.

Being both a new new and poor prepper there are many a lot of holes in my preps. The ones that concerns me most though is the lack of a BO. I don't drive and I live one the edge of a city. I have some camping gear but I have yet to find a BOL I would be happy to go live at or a way to get all our preps there.
