Unfortunatly we ar living on a council estate in salford... needless to say a long way from my roots and upbringing. After an unprovoked indecent recently involving guests at our house I wanted to secure the house more, fast, and on a budgets.

I know this is a bit of a dodgy topic the whole weapons 'thingy' but I've always thought that a spear would probably be better in narrow hallways etc than a sword for the home defence stuff. Just theory, I've no swords or spears to compare but a 6/7 foot stick with a pointy bit could be better for keeping the 'perps' at more than arms length. Apologies to the Mods if I've overstepped anything, I'll not be offended if this post is removed.
Sorry for your situation, and if this is a bit negative I apologies but unless you are good terms with at least one of your neighbours, those alarms are going to be pretty useless if they go off while you are out and nobody does anything about it. I am assuming someone tried to nick your new bike as soon as they saw it?
Big through hardened chains and locks with a ground anchor are the way forwards, however scum have been known to torch stuff on the spot just for spite seeing as they can't steal it.
Your locks leave a lot of loop get at able with bolt croppers, battery angle grinders etc , if possible can you make a lock box to go over the top of them to prevent easy access? Also check the hinges on the shed/ gate, most are easy to unscrew.
I used to keep my bike(s) in the kitchen

Immediate neighbors are not trouble but are numb and useless next one over are really nice i expect either of these would report something, Its a few doors away that are the "not rights"
The quick and cheap response was more as a visual deterrent and scare factor. If they wanted to steel they would find a way no matter what.
Regards bike: anchor bolt fitted and brake disk bolt, inside brick shed which is also alarmed and locked. - plan to improve the locks on this soon.
Plan B of course is eventually to move to a more desirable area not that i have a better job.

Hope it goes well for you mate, having bad neighbours can put you on edge so its hard to fully relax. While moving to a more desirable area normally helps, its not a guarantee, folk can be funny buggers over stupid things. I'm very fortunate where I stay, no bad eggs but when a house goes up for sale its at the back of my mind that we might get 'neighbours from hell' and I'm getting too old to be putting people in headlocks.
Get yourself security lights find these are helpful.
Nice 3/4 d maglight comes in handy and Duracell batteries as there a bit heavier.
What are they trying to rob mate. Motorbike or pushbike?
Not sure if you have glass on front door but as a security upgrade prior to shtf and boarding up I'm considering security window film .
Nice job so far

Out of curiosity, do you know if this window film would cut down on the light coming through the windows ? We're 'the talk of the steamie' with our windows full of chilli plants (and formerly tomato but they're outside now) being 'cannabis'. As I've posted I doubt Casa Deeps would be Fort Deeps so if I'm not going to be able to grow plants due to this film it wouldn't be viable. Any links would be appreciated. I do like the idea of some kind of film that at least makes my windows more 'scum proof'.
