Daily Mail - Homemade flood defences.

Widow's home has escaped flooding in swamped countryside because her late husband cleverly built a SIX FOOT waterproof bank surrounding the property
Suzette Billington lives 200 yards from River Tone in Somerset and her property was flooded nearly every winter

But her late husband Douglas - a former Royal Navy lieutenant - encircled two-acre garden with clay floodbank
More than a decade later, flood defences are still holding and the home is dry rather than being under 3ft of water

He was RN, you know what they say "Give Jack a job"

Looks like she could do with getting some repairs done this summer, you don't need a very big hole in a dyke to make a weakness

That is a most impressive prep. It sometimes does surprise me why some people in high flood areas, are not prepared in some way, even if its a 72hr bag. I just see news reports, of repeated vicitms, who still havent made an effort to prepare for the cases.

If any of us were in the situation, I am sure we would have a number of defences, and preps ready to go.

Stay safe
