Hi, my name is Richard I am married with 1 daughter I live in North Yorkshire and we moved from Bradford out into the countryside 6 years ago. I would have not called my self a prepper really until a very short while ago, I find it hard to believe that we will get to a state of roaming mobs or zombies walking the street " I have no problem if anyone has these belief's" but I have been made redundant and had 2 long spells off work due to illness and the reality of very little money coming in and struggling to pay bills has been a factor in my life so I am a big believer in trying to prepair for what the future may bring. I have been able to expand on my preparedness since our move by storing more food and survival equipment, I also have a small allotment and am in the process of getting a few chickens. I fish and hunt very close to where I live and can supply my family with any meat/fish we require if necessary.
But I have a very big hurdle to get over, my wife thinks its all nuts and all she can see is the "American Preppers" with guns, bunkers and 5 years of food on shelves. I have tried using our lean times but all she says it "we survived, we got through" and to an extent she is correct but I would like to be ready if it happens again. I have had a read through a lot of the forum and I can relate to a lot of the forum members it looks like a good bunch of straight thinking people who I can communicate with and share idea's
Thanks for letting me on board
Rich.

Re: Newbie
welcome to the forum Richard , zombies is used to be used to describe those people the wonder around thinking the government will help if the shtf most people now use sheeple instead
as for your wife you could try telling her there is a difference between just surviving the lean times and not having to worry about them or where the next meal is coming from
