Too much kit!

Post by jansman »

Yep, you read it right. I have too much kit! Over the years I have really gathered some gear. It is spread all over the place and I want to put it all together in a cohesive and easily accessed way. Pseudonym's goodwill boxes seem a good way to go. Ultimately I will have to ditch some stuff.

I am thinking of a box containing, lighting, another cooking etc. etc. I may(MAY  ) even make up (cringes) a BOB. There , I said it! :D We have a 'fire' bag of clothes in my workshop, and I may make up a bag for a hotel stay in emergency. This was an idea of preppingsu or itsybitsy I believe alittle while back.

Anyhow, I have to do it as the clutter is doing my head in! Firstly though, I shall do the job on paper to save wasted effort.

Another Prep site I go on had a thread about a real-world emergency bag.
The poster's relative (father, I think) had been rushed into hospital and the family had all gathered round, after a while it became obvious that this was going to be a marathon not a sprint they decided that they were going to stay around on a shift basis.
The poster's sister volunteered for the first stint with the words "I'll have to get my bag from the car first", the bag turned out to not be the handbag that was expected but an over-night case with extra things like a phone charger and bags of change for vending machines.

This kit set up was later referred to as a "Sister-Bag" by another poster.

The thing is, a Sister-Bag is probably more use then some hardcore Run-for-the-hills kind of BoB

Thankyou for that! :D that puts all my ideas into perspective. The Sister Bag is brilliant!
I am going to cast my mind back to when my Dad was dying at the Hospice, and I was camped down there for four days.

Think about what the most likely UK bug-outs are:-

House-fire
Flooding (river, sea or plumbing failure)
Local Disaster (Chemical spill, 'Buncefield' or WHY)

All of them are better covered by having a kit that will enable you to survive living in a hotel, motel, community centre or some place like......With other people who may or may not be in the same situation

Add to these, Family Emergencies where you quite literally need to leave now and the Sister Bag becomes much more practical then the classic three days in the wilderness BoB that most people (myself included) tend to build first.......... Some never change the plan, they just get 'better'(ie more expensive branded) gear.

Working on a packing list for my own ATM...... Might have to post it when its done
