For me, and I do a lot of 'off books' work with people, it's about finding out what works for each individual. What works for one might not, necessarily, work for another. It's all about tailoring it to the individual.

A holistic approach is just common sense to me. People shy away from the word, without understanding what it means.

Yeah, I'm not what you'd call popular. I tend to ask questions and do a lot of my own research. Docs don't tend to like people who question them

i dont believe in having regrets - but moving from the coast may be one of mine...
I was born near the coast, and during the 25yrs I spent away from it, missing it was a constant, almost painful thing. In the six years we've been here, half a mile from the sea, I've felt as if I've come home. I've also noticed that being here has stabilised the depression fantastically well. The sound of the sea and wind are very soothing to me, you can almost hear the heartbeat of the earth :)

I have tried fish oils and glucosamine but one problems the glucosamins tends to be glucosamine sulphate - note the last word! I had to change iron tabs from sulphate based ones to the liquid spar tone sort as sulphate is not good for my digestive system if you get my dift. My family said I became quite anti social to be around  Can you get glucosamine that is not sulphate based?

don't know about aches and pains cause of old age - I'm 37 and I've got my fair share of aches and pains. I used to suffer with Restless Leg Syndrome but after starting to take magnesium tablets, it has all but gone away. I suffered for years with restless leg, had numerous doctor appts but never got it sorted out until my sister mentioned that she had read somewhere about magnesium deficiency causing all sorts of problems - so after researching it, I thought why not, its not going to hurt to take a magnesium supplement and instead, it fixed the problem.

I do massage my feet every night before bed - the doctor advised me as a border line diabetic that looking after the feet is the best thing you can do for yourself. I have weak ankles so the massaging helps keep the aches and pains away as well.

I'm also taking a Vit D supplements cause lets face it, the sun doesn't shine very much in England.

Laura, when you massage your feet, it improves circulation if you use a sugar scrub. I use it on my hands, as they're a bit on the dodgy side, what with one thing and another, and I find it really helps.

Dead easy to make your own - just need oil and sugar. You can use any kind of oil you like; I prefer grapeseed as it's light and easily absorbed. Olive is good for your nails as well as your skin, although it's denser and heavier than the grapeseed.

Just mix the oil and sugar to a paste; when it settles in the bowl, there should be approx 3-5mm of oil on top of the sugar. You can add essential oils if you like. Stir it round with your fingers, scoop some up and massage it in - hands or feet. I do my hands over the sink, and feet get done over an old towel. Let it sit for a bit, you can even wrap up in a hot, damp towel for a few minutes, then rinse and wash.

Hope that helps :)

I studied refelxology and was quite amazed what can be 'detected or identified' through massaging and manipulating feet, very odd, worth a look if you are into that kind of thing... and not if you're not :)

hello, anoher thing to look at is quinine for restless legs, and of course all the obvious things - caffeine, nicotine intake etc.

quinine can be in tablet form (but read up on side effects and see GP etx etc) but is nore commonly found in tonic water :D

It's fascinating. The lady here who sorts out my shoulders is known as 'the foot whisperer' and she's marvellous! She's pretty damn good at massage too, the only person I've ever met who can get all the knots out of my shoulders. I swear, I was about a quarter inch taller when I walked out of there :P
