Nor an axe, unless you are learning tomahawk as well, 30+feet will be impressive to watch.

I don't post anymore. Threads like these are mainly the reason why. Why are these people talking about the uses of throwing knives?
Should there be an under twelve year old section for this rubbish? Or are the mods just so inundated with this crap, that they don't have the time or energy to filter these Walter Mitty types out? I despair, I really do.

Not a good hunting skill, not a good anti-zombie skill, so what useful attributes does knife throwing have?

Learning to play darts will probably get you further in life , a knife at 30+ feet would be impressive if you can not only hit the target but get it to go in Looking foreward to seeing the results of your training and practice

I remember throwing a screwdriver into a tree as a child, from 10-15ft you could get a fairly decent penetration into a tree,
Like I said before, it's more of a hobby/confidence building exercise (with all the benefits that come with that that). Effectively a game to build self defence around. Hitting a moving target with a knife is a hell of a lot harder, then add in variable distance. If you only had a balanced knife and you were hunting fairly tame game (pigeons etc...) then it could be of actual value, otherwise get a slingshot/crossbow for practical purposes.

Could we all perhaps just take a moment to think about the hurt and damage that we are all going to do to poor innocent trees , please just take a step back , does the tree scream when the knife hits it , use a board to practice on , and keep your FAK to hand incase it bounces out and hits you in the head

apologies scablifter for bringing you out of posting retirement in such a bad way, im sure your regular posts are much missed.

in th OP i have clearly said this is for sport and looking for reviews or comments - which i got plenty of, good ones, either saying what a waste of time itd be, or how interested others may be too on throwing knives. i thought this was a good response for a little side project.

im new to prepping, and this is my first ever forum so please allow for the occasional boring bit whilst i find my feet.

there are posts and comments on here daily about zombies!! i seriously dont think my post warranted your comments as i dont think i was talking 'crap'...

ive read a lot about storage and tin rotation and kits...whats wrong with asking something new? on a topic that seems to have not been covered.

i have been clearly informed by others here in discussion (12mp82 and toddie) that throw knives are either rubbish and useless or may be fun and good to learn a new skill, and poppypiesdad - i have NO intention of damaging any trees, i referred to a tree stump and taking it back to my garden, maybe i shouldve typed 'log'

if the knives that i have ordered turn out to be rubbish (or if i cant use them) then ill clearly say it here.

if however i managed to hunt squirrels and pigeons effectively, cut down a zombie lord at 10 paces or find other practical and useful ways to utilise skills developed, ill post those too.

throwing knives are really cool and they say (reguarding the circus comment) the best why to kill a circus is to go for the juggler.

I was looking at learning the skill also just for fun, nothing wrong with that.
I found Xolette's youtube library to be very helpful Shes rather cute too...
She takes part in competitions and seems quite knowledgeable.
