I have a few chickens that i keep for eggs.

I have heard somewhere that it is better to keep them on a layer pellet than just corn if you want reliable egg laying. Not sure if this is similar for ducks, but might be worth a switch from corn to a duck layers pellet (if there is such a thing).

I quite fancy some ducks for eggs (and amusement)

I am also thinking about getting some quail in the spring, as they are meant to be great layers and then a fine meat bird (and very productive at both).

Anyone raised quail?

Cheers

Matt
The greedy things have both pellets and corn, and mice when they catch them, plus are enthusiastically picking over my newly dug over veggie patch. A couple of them are getting on a bit now, and yes the time of year does hamper the production slightly - perhaps I shouldn't be so cross with them!!!

1 1/2 to 2lb dressed weight-about the same as a wildie. Which is what my customers think they are! :D ;)
