Thinking of getting this flint and steel one of the best on the market i can find here. Just wondering if any body thinks there is a better one and could post a link to it =)?

Tom that's very expensive for what it is. Get onto the Heinne Haynes website and buy a light my fire one for half the cost and it won't let you down

I've got one of those American military Doan magnesium firelighting blocks. Only tried it once or twice. You can pick them up on eBay I think.

Me too. I can make fire with me magnesium thingy bob, but a dsisposable lighter is easier! Still, a flint and steel is good backup. To the OP-do not buy something 'cos it is branded. Anything NATO or MOD is tried and tested-and a hell of a lot cheaper.

seems to do the job and is 1/4 the price of the BG one...... and when i got mine, my mate went to prove a point and got one half the price....because i didnt check the postage...dammit.

Actually, I just remembered: When I researched these a couple of years back, I remember there being chatter on the internet about avoiding cheap Chinese fire rods. So make sure the quality is good before you buy. If it's dirt cheap it might not even work...
