Just starting up from near Manchester

Post by Jim3296 »

I have started to become interested in prepping , due to a what seem never ending problem in the middle east and talk of nuclear weapons and the way things are in Europe. Over the past few weeks i have collected information site that has supply's and sites that have useful information on them ect .

I was just wondering what i would need to do to start and any tips.

So far i have created a list and would like to know what you guys think of it.

Around 5 Maglite's
2 Zippos and disposable lighters and a box of matches and flints and gas to go with them. ( I smoke so thats why ive put a lot down.

I think i would depending on the situation be Bugging out , so heres what i have put together.

Some windbrakers
Tent canopy ( family size )
Tent carpets
Fire making tools
Event shelters
Some sleeping bags
Pillows
camping chairs and a table
Plastic tubs for food and camp tool storage ( to save room in the transport )
A camp bed ( if someone in the group has a bad back )
Outdoor pet equipment sold at go outdoors - I know pepole say dont take pets but there is no way im leaving my dog behind if it is happening any time soon. :D

I just wanted to know what you think im going to be going up into the hills somewhere so that why there's a lot of camping equipment. Also how should i get started with food.
Thanks in advance

Hi Welcome :D
Wow I gather you will be bugging out in a car and not carrying that lot re sleeping bags are they four seasons or three season I ask because I've just found out that there are diffrent ones. When you say outdoor pet equipment what do you mean ? I just use a chain if I need the dog near to usl. Have you thougt about a dog backpack for your dog as well(unless its a mini yorky of couse)
As for food have a good look in your cupboard first and see what you have been eating with a long best before date then take it from there

As Far as I'm concerned a dog is not just a pet but an essential for preppers. ( Early Warning, Sentry, Hunting Aid, Defense, Companion and many more). Don't dis Your dog

For your bug out bad food you only need something short term so i would suggest something canned that is easy to cook e.g. beans =)

Also army ration packs that you just add hot water 2 are good 2 =)
Me all i am and all i want to be!
