Greetings from the West Country

Post by BigF »

As a child of the 80's when none of my generation thought we would see a life without Nuclear War I guess I have always been prepared for a vastly changed world.

Whatever form it takes I don't believe our current way of life is sustainable. War, economic collapse, pandemic, starvation has ever been the way that Earth controls our numbers. It's clear we are now damaging our planet seriously.

A considerable part of my job is around Disaster Planning and recovery.

I am a Small Holder. I keep Sheep and Poultry and Horses.

I am a qualified Deer Manager.

"Prepping" in a small way is an accepted principle in my family. We probably live a life closer to nature than most in a fairly out of the way part of the world. Our supply of essentials is clearly delivered by road here and is interrupted during bad weather.

Am I some kind of "nutter"? Most people in my business and personal life would consider me thoughtful, helpful and quite successful.

Being prepared just makes sense.

I hope I can make a positive contribution to this forum and look forward to making friends with likeminded people.

Is that what they call farming these days?... mind you it's becoming that way for millions of us isn't it
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Thanks for the Welcome.

I am in the South West of England.

The Small Holding is a hobby, I suppose also a bit of a prep in itself but its not what pays the bills. Given the year farmers are having, thank goodness Im not dependant on it.
