May i ask what you are preppering for?
Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm not really prepping for anything specific and I hope that I end up not prepping for anything at all really but I suppose it is just to be prepared.
The need to prep hasn't 'hit' me specifically, it is something that I've been thinking about for a while. I'm not going to be building a massive bunker in my back garden or anything. But, knowing how to survive off the land and safeguard a future should anything happen is my main goal for joining the forum.

So, as I have literally just found this I have my first question ready:
What are these 'Areas' that people have on their signature blocks? I am guessing that there is a thread somewhere on here where areas have been allocated and a form of 'Chain of Command' has been established for people to RV and ride out the incident.... <-- Was i close?
Anyway, i am looking forward to getting to know you all and look forward to chatting about prepping soon.
Tom
Erm, that would be no! We have an emergency network set up but that is simpy to notify people of a major situation in their geographical area using text messages. It's voluntary to sign up to, and you can find more information here:
Welcome to the forum. I'm not far away, just outside Rotherham in Kiveton Park.
I started prepping at the beginning of the year following being cut off by snow for a few days and the shops running out of bread, milk etc. I have a disabled wife who needs 24x7 care so I couldn't go far to get supplies. Luckily we had a few loaves in the freezer and dried milk, plus quite a few tins and frozen food so we were ok. It did get me thinking about how we'd have managed if it had gone on for a few weeks though - hence getting started with the prepping.
I have found the people on this forum to be very friendly and knowledgable and willing to share their knowledge and experience. Take a bit of time to read some of the threads and accept the advice in the spirit it is meant and you'll soon fit it.
PS - your are in area 8
Hi Gary,
Thanks for the welcome. That was lucky about your 'inadvertent' supplies and after that situation i totally understand why you'd want to be better prepared in the future.
Looking forward to reading all the knowledge on here and thanks for informing me of 'Area 8' now that i know what that means haha!
Any chance of toning down the paranoia? That's really not what we're about on here, Pepper.
Thats not what am about either itsybitsy just having a laugh, but i understand, will not mention it again.......... but if he is SIS i have nothing to hide
I would imagine that the SIS would be a fan of prepping anyway to be honest
It did make me giggle though so thanks for that Thanks for the welcomes everyone!!
