Right ...... but you should be able to adapt if entering the wild is part of your plan! Remember everyone's kit is unique to their situation.

I refuse to revert back to living in the wild. Bugging out to the wild is short term only while things calm down then back to small towns and that in a worst case scenario. So any long term plans to be one with nature and go wild while everyone else is trying to rebuild society back in their homes seems a touch paranoid crazy

Amen to that! I agree 100%......... Being cold, wet, and hungry all the time, well unless you live wild in Canada or the like!

I can see where our friend is coming from. The trouble with many of us is that we are only preparing for the sort of natural disaster/collapse that does not involve loss of some sort of normality. In other words we are only preparing for peace? I know we have friends here who are trying out the American gun thing for size and also like to go play in the woods now and then (within reason and law of course). However, we need to think our way into a war mindset too. This would leave a large swathe of our population ducking and diving "into the wild" just to survive...whether they fancied it or not. Take a look at some old films of refugee trails in invaded countries...those people never planned for that... they were planning to stay home too.

Yes it is wise to take some initial aids to start you off because you will be tired and in shock...Matches and BOB basics coming high on the list. Be aware that this won't last very long and build up the knowledge of how to live off the land and in the land. Read the books and there are some good ones, go on courses and go camping or on family cook-outs. Above all, learn how to keep dry and warm...then buy the kit that will achieve that...always buy four seasons level kit.

It's just another level of being prepared and it is valid.
