Did that get your attention ? Good. It's a WW2 slogan which is just as valid today. Recently we've had a lot of posts on here about getting others on board re prepping... what to say to make them aware, how to make them listen, etc. Really you should think more carefully about this
All you're doing is drawing attention to yourself, and letting them know that you might have stuff stashed away. They will remember this if things go to hell. I wouldn't tell anybody local, I wouldn't even tell my family !! Because my family will come to us anyway in time of trouble, so I can help them then. Right now, they don't need to know.
Also, bear in mind that people, in general, are not "nice". Or noble or good. In general. Read any book about Europe under the nazis - people fell over themselves to report their neighbours out of greed or jealousy or envy. Uusually they got what they deserved in the end - but too late for the victims. An ordinary "nice" family has no chance in what will happen if TSHTF. Don't kid yourselves. I feel secure because of my very street smart OH, my location, but most of all because my oldest son is a biker. With mates... They arent "nice" people. But one day I might be glad of them, and if asked, they will help.
So maybe instead of trying to get people on board who don't need/want/deserve your attention....you should concentrate on your own future and defences. You know ? I sound dead melodramatic and I don't mean to - just been doing a bit of thinking while I was poorly on the couch

Very good points Lil.
I have not mentioned it to anyone and will not! (mainly 'cus they'll think I'm nuts and I have to work with these people)
However, I do say things like - 'Don't you think you should top up your tanks, what with fuel prices etc' or ' Make sure you have a flask of tea and a blanket in the car on that long journey in the bad weather, you know, just in case'.
I then sound like a nagging old bag but might just sow some seeds in the process

Think ive got that on a poster somewhere, bit of a "healthy interest" in WW2. Know what you mean though I've mentioned to close friends and family that maybe they ought to stock up on certain things because of reports on tv about the cold weather and the water situation in Northern Ireland but it just goes over the top of their heads. The usual reply is its the governments fault and therefore up to them to look after people.

No one knows I prep but I did have to have a word with MrsCC a while back when I heard her mentioning a couple of the bigger purchases I made while she was on the phone to a friend.

I wasnt even sure whether to grit the steps up to the house a couple of weeks ago in case it drew attention

I was listening to a bit on R4 about Paris in 1940-41 yesterday. They were saying how in many cases neighbour turned against neighbour, but they also talked about some amazing accounts of bravery as well though. The parisians they interviewed were also saying that it was a very fine line to tread between cooperating with the nazis (enough to survive) and being accused of collaborating with the enemy.
