Best to keep an open mind about these things and always ask your consultant what they think.A number of laboratory studies on cancer cells have shown that curcumin does have anticancer effects. It seems to be able to kill cancer cells and prevent more from growing. It has the best effects on breast cancer, bowel cancer, stomach cancer and skin cancer cells. A 2007 American study that combined curcumin with chemotherapy to treat bowel cancer cells in a laboratory showed that the combined treatment killed more cancer cells than the chemotherapy alone.

The above post was a little unfortunate. The "quack" issue does not arise. This is mainstream science. I spent a year writing my dissertation on this subject and know it fairly well. I document what I have advised in links to scientific papers in Google Scholar below. From a prepping perspective it would be a very optimistic person indeed who will assume that they will have access post SHTF to a doctor. They would be even more optimistic if they believed that if they could find one that there would be a friendly chemist/pharmacist available and the full functions of a National Health Service. There is no guarantee that the pharmaceutical industry (or supply chain) will work. Therefore prudent people need to takes what steps they can to deal with their problems or potential problems.
It is worth Googling around in Google Scholar asking the pertinent questions about these herbs and cancer: http://scholar.google.co.uk/schhp?hl=en-GB
I give you a three link sample about Curcuma:

There are hundreds more.
The science is (as usual) years ahead of medical practice. It would be most unfortunate if this information was withheld from preppers who really need to be thinking of looking after themselves in difficult circumstances; not only their current illnesses but those they (or their families) may get in the future.
I take the unusual step of signing off with my own name for the obvious reason below.

Re: Tumours, Treatment & Prepping
It wasn't an 'unfortunate' post. It was an observation based on previous discussions that have taken place on this forum which have greatly upset some of our members, because certain individuals were hellbent on posting information that was untrue and dangerous. I was not aware that I had quoted you anywhere in my post regarding 'quack' medicine. I was simply stating that I was uncomfortable with the direction in which that thread was going.MedicHerbalist wrote:Itsybitsyitsybitsy wrote:I'm starting to get a tad uncomfortable about the direction this thread is taking. I would encourage all members of this forum to seek medical advice for health problems, and not to simply take advice from other members members (or individuals) in isolation of mainstream medicine. And for heavens sake, do your own research!

Evening All,
Many thanks for all the responses and all will be taken on board before decision's are made.
The reason for my post really was to establish if anyone had gone through similar circumstances as I know I really need to stop being a stubborn so and so, refusing help when I know I'm likely to need it. Guess I needed to see how it would fit in with prepping aswell.
On a plus side, I get chance to read/attempt to be resourceful abit more.

Hi CG
Thats a really important statement you made, about stopping refusing help, when you know you need it! Good for you. Doesn't mean you don't make an effort to look after yourself, it means you accept the help thats offered if you want it, when you want it. Good luck with it
MH - thanks for the pointers, appreciated.
