Might be even more of a reason for buying an extra few tins with the weekly shop.
Although I'd never want people to starve or wish them bad in anyway, but in a way I wish there actually was a shortage or more people looked into world food and stock situations and it seems when you say to most people about prepping they laugh in your face.

Re: 2012 Food Shortages
This is a topic that has been discussed several times over.
The bad summer we have had this year has affected many food crops that we normally see in the supermarkets. For example, a sack of spuds last year from our local farm shop cost 6.00, last week a bag cost 11.00.
Why? Due a a poor crop so there are less potatoes.
A local diary farmer on the local news was saying his maize crop for the winter feed was very bad and certainly not good enough to get him and the cattle through the winter. H was predicting a smaller milk yield.
The drought in USA caused a poor wheat crop, knock on effect for our flour purchases.
I could go on!
Yes buy some tins and build up your food stores now before prices start to rise even more. But more importantly start planning to grow your own fruit and veg, to supplement the tins and so you do not have to buy from the supermarkets. It probably won't feed you and your own all year round but it adds variation to the tinned food you stock up on.
The price rises will continue, prep for this!!!
