Emergency radio receivers

I am looking for an ordinary radio receiver.

Yeah anything should do, they're dead cheap like my two in the pictures.
I could have bought bigger ones but I didn't see the point of lugging big heavy ones around.
Whatever type you buy, make sure it works with ordinary batteries, as I think there are some radios out there which only work with special rechargable packs, and there'd be nowhere for you to recharge them if there was a power cut.

However I am trying to find out if the handle is well built, as in the worse case scenario there will be a lot of cranking and the handle would need to take the punishment. Am trying to find a wind up torch that has metal handle too, for same reason, though may go for the twist or shake ones. Has anyone got this EATON Radio/Torch/Charger??

A good place for radio equipment is ebay.

I got a handheld radio scanner that covers a massive range of frequencies for £50, also i have just purchased a CB radio out fit with a 35 watt booster for £60 and a handheld CB for £20

I know that the Uk limit is 4 watts, but in a emergency i would not be worried.

I know that CB is nearly dead but i think it would be amazing how many would suddenly be rescued from the attic and come to life in a emergency.

Keep it in a metal cage for protection against EMP'S Etc.

A CB is great for local use only, but can be put in a car.
