Returning to the fold.

Post by greencloud1 »

Hi all,
I joined a couple of years back but got waylaid by everyday life / kids / work etc. Recently I've been trying hard to get myself organised (I'm terribly un..) and I found the site again in my old laptop faves.

Preps wise I've got little or nothing and severe fund restrictions mean that can't change fast. I do plan to get a few things put aside though and get 'plan B's and hopefully C and D!! in place to cover the necessities as I don't like being dependent on TPTB.

Interest wise I love learning new practical skills and making stuff when I get the chance. That's not often with two little ones and a working wife on top of my 9-5.

Thanks everyone for all the useful and interesting posts I've already mooched. Looking forward to plenty more and will chip in if I have anything relevant!

Cheers

Hi! I feel silly saying welcome back, seeing as I joined in summer, but ... welcome back!

Just to look at the positives ... what preps do you feel you *do* have? Fitness is a good prep that everyone can aspire to, so is knowledge of the local area, which you can do with the kids, identification of trees and fruit and whatnot. What about the preps to your house - insulation, for instance? Especially with kids, water is really important - I know it costs, but a 2 litre bottle of supermarket bog standard water costs 17p, and I'm pretty sure everyone with an internet connection and a computer can afford 17p once a week ... an extra pack of dried beans costs £1 ... bit by bit!
