Sum kind of shelter
Re: Sum kind of shelter
Well for those with a serious budget and some reason to actually need a fallout shelter, Hardened Structures have a UK office. They build proper nuclear shelters if you have a million or so to spare..well tbh I have no idea what they charge, but it ain't going to be cheap

In my opinion ANY shelter would become a tomb in the uk , If thier was a Nuke attack on us the size of our little bit of land could (and would) be covered with 2 or 3 I.C.B.M's (m.r.w) and dont forget russia tested THE biggest non nuclear bomb not 2 yrs ago (footage on You Tube). And you cant break wind without the local rag finding out and a project that big would bring many unwanted eyes to look in you direction, just my opinion mate i just think the cost of this kind of project could be a white elephant ( unless you have a large farm with lots of land to make the Bunker invisible ). All the best chap.

I think water, food, heat and light comes a hell of a long way first before swanning around with spears
And would you want to survive a nuclear attack ? What would you do for the rest of your life - stay inside?

If you're worried about fallout, you should be worried about blast first. You could build yourself a decent fallout shelter for not too much money if you know what you're doing, even in your house - but the blast would probably destroy it...
Unfortunately, as we've given up so many of our air fields and bases to American forces, the UK, for decades, has been and still is a top target for Russian nukes.
I have a great book, which includes chapters on shelter building, called 'The Survival Option', by Ivan Tyrell. Track down a copy of this if you'd like to know about surviving nuclear war.

Agreed but there's no point having supplies if you lose them to the first person that comes along...diamond lil wrote:I think water, food, heat and light comes a hell of a long way first before swanning around with spears![]()
Yes of course I would want to survive, wouldn't be easy but thats why we prep. Radiation across a broad area would be fairly shortlived though the blastzones would be dead for much longer of course. While perhaps not the most likely occurance its still more than right to prep for what worries you. Scoffing at others concerns is imo a bit off.And would you want to survive a nuclear attack ? If you're not concerned that's fine but if someone comes looking on a preppers forum how to prepare, well, isnt that the point? Please people - keep it real and common sense here! This is a preppers forum, not a Mad Max Scenario game
Op:
I think a good cheap option could be a container buried under a meter of earth. Cheap and would give good blast and radiation protection. With an air filtration system and supplies you could stay for long enough for the radiation levels to drop significantly. Of course keeping the materials for starting over will rewuire far more space but first thing is to survive. Good luck

We need to keep things grounded and sensible, or we will end up losing the level-headed members who want to prep for far more likely shit than a nuclear war.

Re: Sum kind of shelter
