Newbie from Kiveton (nr Sheffield) just getting started

Post by gary5wift »

Bugging out is not an option for me. I have a severly disabled wife following a severe stroke. No matter how bad things get I would never abandon her.

We live in a sizeable village outside Sheffield. All the kit we need to care for her is in our bungalow and it would be too much to transport without a sizeable truck. Bugging in is the only option. I plan to make sure we have as much as possible inside then block access through doors and windows with metal sheets and boarding. These will be on the inside to make the place look as normal and unobtrusive as possible from the outside to deter any untoward interest.

If anyone does get in we won't be able to make a run for it, so my only option will be to fight back as best as I can with whatever weapons I have to hand. We probably wouldn't last long against a determined attack but I'd make taking our property and our lives as costly as possible, taking as many intruders with me as I can.

It won't do us much good but it might make them think twice before raiding the next house.

Hi  - but you can prep for anything, from lack of money to bad weather to shortages of food etc, as well. It's not all about zombies ..

Thanks guys

You are right DLil - I can prep for any emergencies that may arise locally. It brought it home to me last winter when the village was snowed in for quite a long time and no bread/milk etc was delivered for ages and the village ran out. I'll be better prepared this winter. Will be sure to have about a months supply of food and drink. We've also got a wood burning stove now to heat the living room if the heating goes off, it can be used to cook/heat food as well which is a bonus. I'm busy stocking my back yard with wood before winter sets in.

Cheers
Gary
