Triple Sod, maybe so, but look at the Lincolnshire Floods in 1947(?) we changed the way we dealt with that situation. It is why the whole Fen Drain system exists( good job too, best pike fishing in the UK!).

It is not about numbers, although if we were to look at population demographics, there may well be similarities. It is about Culture and Attitudes. As a Nation we Brits are definitely calmer and more reserved, I am certain. Americans , to me, seem to evacuate/flap/over-react etc. at all sorts. For a country that prides itself on it's sense of " Rugged Individualism" they seem to do as they are told a lot!

And back on topic, their idea of preps is vastly different from ours simply because of culture, geography and the fact they o not consider a decent cup of tea to be the cure for most things- barbarians!
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.

I've only seen the odd program and although some of them were a bit intense, most of those in the programs I watched would seem to be good people to know or have on your side in a crisis

Just as some people on here might think that a lot of preppers in the US are OTT, I have no doubt that a lot of normal people in the UK would think that the majority of preppers on this site are weird and OTT

It's a bit like driving, anyone driving faster than you is dangerous and anyone going slower than you is an idiot :)

At the very least the programs are worth watching in case you pick up some good ideas, but personally I enjoy them and wish I had the opportunity to prep like some of them do, out in the middle of nowhere with plenty of land and no nosy neighbours.

Got to disagree with you ,the riots in London & Birmingham didn't appear very calm or reserved. We have changed from the stiff upper lipped stoicism of our forefathers
In terms of evacuations do some research on hurricane damage, hunkering down simply isn't an option for storm surge or a large hurricane
The nature of the ground in Florida (I'm told) isn't conducive to heavier built housing (but also there is a lack of strict enforcement of building code)
I wish we had some of the freedoms they take for granted in the US & their abundant cheap supply of prep goods and equipment
Its all too common in this country to belittle our American cousins but without them I believe we would have been under the Soviet Bloc control after WWII
You're right about their tea though it's sh1t :D
The Nat Geo programmes like any media are manipulating the finished shows to push their own agenda. If you poke around online you'll find criticism from the preppers who participated
God only knows why anyone would put their face national TV to be portrayed as a nut & expose themselves as a target in the future.

If we all stop to think and bear that phrase in mind when we are judging anyone for anything we would have a better perspective :)

Yes agreed, and like the driving phase demonstrates, one day I may laugh at bits of it, another I could cringe, but everytime I learn a little from them, and sometimes I envy the freedoms and scale of their country.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

hey jansman just sit back and enjoy for what it is a bit of entertainment that we can laugh at :!: :!: :!: What am I saying the first one had me looking to see if we had any of those idiots in the uk
Its good to know that most peppers would make very very boaring tv. I wonder how long it took the tv company to find these preppers and how much editting they had to do to make it (as they see it) entertaining tv
In America? Not every long

Well I watched it last night it was a lot better than the first one. Yes there were guns but it was not gun ho and I was so enpressed with the first couple if only land was not so expensive in the uk and our building regs let us do things like they had. I also liked it that the people did not revel all of there plans. So no worrys about the :tinfoil brogade so far :)

What a mountain of food the container couple had. Impressive but glass jars on open shelves :o  especially when he was prepping for earthquake
Still food store envy for sure. Loved his off grid capability too. Would a container stop more than the 22 calibre rounds they tested the structure with ?

Wasn't as impressed with bug out girl, but she was at least working through her escape scenario.

Bushcraft bloke certainly knew his wild onions

Looking forward to the rest of them
