These people have some interesting design concepts if you want furniture for your bunker that will last.

I can see me using some of their ideas to beef up existing furniture but their prices seem very fair for kit that will last a while and it looks quite good too (except for the grey school stuff).

Re: Tough Furniture
I'm always surprised more people don't make their own furniture, as modern stuff is all fairly poorly made and the design could be copied but things replaced like using Ash (its fairly cheap) instead of some cheap laminate or pine and replace the cheap metal works with higher end hinges, screws, runners and such.Ian wrote:These people have some interesting design concepts if you want furniture for your bunker that will last.

With little more than a saw, drill, router, set of clamps, chisel and a sander (can get all that used for under £100 at car bootsales) you can build some really nice modern furniture. If you want to go old school with dovetail's and such, yeah that's a bit tricky but even things like mortise and tenon joints are not that hard after a few projects.
I started practising on reclaimed wood which is easy to get from skips and dumped on the side of roads, I'd say basic wood work is a great skill to have pre or post shtf.

Re: Tough Furniture
£287 for a bookcase doesn't seem that reasonable to me. I definately agree that woodworking skills are a plus in any situation.
Unfotunately the wife has a thing for IKEA so my homemade projects would not be allowed in the house.
Nice furniture though.
