Alright so this past week I've been working out how much a month i can afford to put aside to prep, and figured £100 was a good enough figure. Although i have spent most of this months money already (due to a sale on a surplus website) i figured money spent on prepping is money well spent.
Also there's going to be a point where i can spend less due to maintaining current stocks etc.
So, what are your budgets?
How much do you put aside to prep?

Re: How much do you put aside to prep?
£100 a month is our entire food budget
I operate on a shoelace because I save hard. But every now and then I break out and fill up the stash cupboards, so it's not a designated prepping budget really.

Don't have a budget as such. I always buy extra stuff on my monthly shop which goes into our prepping stuff. Food on the storage shelves just continually gets rotated. Anything else that is needed is bought as and when we have an spare cash ( mostly not then!) and I have a lovely long list of things to get!

Prepping is integral to our life so there has never been a separate budget. I think we are on a plateau, we have what we need (although I suspect that improving things is never ending, but there is so little innovative these days). So what is bought just about balances what we use.

Similar to above, we just buy extra when we shop and look out for bargains when they appear. Everything else spare goes to saving.

It depends on what a "Prep" is, I am prepping for a lot of stuff, the biggies are retirement, long term illness and if I die before my daughter is 21, that is costing about £500 a month, it is a prep though, I don't "have" to spend it on the future and could spend it on wine, women and song, the rest I could just fritter away.

When I was working we were putting away £20 a month. This allowed extra stocks of food. When we had the occasional windfall we'd get a 'major prep like a water filter etc.
