Seriously, the budget shops and pound shops do provide some great things. Go there with the right mindset on and you can get tonnes of stuff.

We haven't got a poundland round here, have to go to another place to find one, but they do have some good stuff, but also a lot of Carp that I wouldn't want to buy.

The foil blankets are ok, the shelters are also well worth a £1. Some of the glow sticks are ok too.

In the high street there's three close together!

99p store
Good for :
Containers

Bleach tablets
Camping gear
Bacon roll
Good quality AA / AAA batts (Kodak)

Pound land :
Tinned pies
Toiletries
BOVRIL
Camping gear

Mighty Pound! :
Cotton tea towels (makes good char cloth)
Microfiber clothes
SS camp mugs

Another vote here for the pound stores.

We've got about 3 in our town, and I bought some great outdoor stuff in my 99p shop a year or so ago, including mess tin, camping knife, emergency mylar blankets and other stuff.

Except the fare to get there will negate the saving ;)
