Wellies - which ones?

Post by Technik »

I've just realised that I don't have any wellies... and I live in Scotland  I've always preffered sport waterproof boots but think that a good pair of wellies is much better. So now which ones to buy and where and what to look for?
Many thanks

Not normal wellies, something a bit better fitting, I really dislike ordinary wellies after the years of slip-slapping on the calf of both legs and socks slipping down

I'd like something like these

I've got a pair of Bogs wellies, from javari.co.uk - I think they're the only UK seller as bogs are American. I have the kids ones because I've only got little feet. They are the most comfy wellies I've ever had and they have replaced all my other hiking boots etc for walking the dogs or going down the allotment. They are expensive but you get what you pay for. They have a pair reduced to £75 from £125 at the moment. If you can manage the price, I can highly recommend them.

Well, I'm not an expert on wellies. I have a pair of Hunters, which do the job for me.

I've got quite simillar winter waterproof boots but they are too warm for early wet spring or anything after.

I was thinking about the Hunter wellies too itsy cos they're cheap and seem to have a nice, tight fit. What does the rest of you guys have? Where's Lil when you need her... :D

I have a pair of Hunters. Don't know much about Wellies and this is the first pair I have ever owned. Got them last year on sale and have wore them for the first time a couple of days ago when we got the first lot of snow.

Hunters cheap? Not for me they aren't - I waited until the sales and then it was still a lot to fork out for Wellies

It's all relative though ML.

I paid £160 for a pair of boots for road and rural walking a few years back.

Le chameau wellies £150

Whereas a pair of Hunter wellies can be £52

A cheap pair of Dunlops for £7.99
