Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, those were the days! Tranny vans and illegal raves in warehouses. Convoys of cars at Charnock Richards Service Station. Cream. The Hacienda. Graeme Park. SPANGLED!!! *reminisces for a moment*

I was in Ibiza in '89. I don't remember much about the holiday but the bits that are etched in my memory are pretty interesting!

I know this post has been dead for a while but I saw it today and it's very relevant.

The OH was at a neighbours Saturday who complained that the new puppy was eating them out of house & home and I heard the dreaded "you'd be ok in our house, down in our cellar my husbands got enough food, blankets and candles to keep the street going for a month"

I know we have sensible, reliable neighbours but still, shock horror!!!

As they said in WW2 "Be like Dad and keep Mum"

It's amazing how those simple messages get so easily lost yet they make so much sense in a lot of ways. We could never prove anything but mysteriously after a street party at which we had some people from the 'wrong end of town' turn up with someone they knew on the estate to a street party, we had a couple of people's cars broken into. The real tell for this was that the two particular fellas involved had been mouthing off to anyone who would listen about their really expensive stereo systems......

Figures huh ;)

It's such a shame. Invite someone into your home/street and that's the thanks you get. I left my garage open last week, came home from work and found another car parked in it - ha ha. Not the same as having your stereo stolen, I know, but still, all I did was leave the chuffing door open...

Also "keep calm and carry on" which has become quite popular. Another one is "keep calm and brew up". Apparently the phrase "brew up" also means blow up a tank !!

Haven't been able to find reference to that one Nick, any chance of a link I can send to an old tankie mate of mine to wind him up

It's very hard to keep it absolutely quiet when you have teenage daughters who think Mum's Armageddon cupboard is a huge joke and use it as an example of how embarassing their Mum is when comparing notes with their friends
