72 hour ??
hello everyone( first post not sure its the right forum so please move if necessary) i was just looking through the forums and i noticed everyone had in their bobs a 72 hour kit ? i know that its said that an emergency rescue team should find you in 72 so prepare for that. but this being a bob and in a shtf situation with no chance or hope of emergency services coming for you. wouldn't it be better advice to forget the 72 hour rule and pack as much as you can carry to make things a bit easier later on while looking for a food source???

The reason I still stick to the 72 hour plan is that a) it is a sensible amount to carry, the more you carry the slower you will travel, and b) if you need to BO then you should be going to somewhere, not just aiming in a general direction and walking, so your BOL should be reachable in a reasonable period of time.
Even if it is SHTF, you should have a plan in place, even if that is to a location you have pre prepared as a re-supply spot if you think you will need to be out more than 72 hours.
