New member from the north

Post by PeakOilNow »

Hi new member here from the north. Ive been lurking for a while just viewing all the posts and what not, and I though I would create an account because there were some things I wanted to comment on. It's funny cos the first thing I was thinking was how come they don't have a section for commenting about current affairs and reasons why everyone is prepping, but now I see it looks like you do but I couldn't see it before, lol.

I found the website through a google search for uk preppers. I have been looking at the many videos online on YouTube for prepping and the vast majority are from America, the culture is very wide spread over there, as is the commercial side. Although I have been thinking about prepping on and off for a few years now, whenever I mention it to anyone close to me they think I'm being pessimistic and probably secretly think I'm mad. When I first started to think about it there didn't seem to be any kind of commercial outlet specifically designed for the uk, but now is see at least four online shops catering to preppers in the uk. This is probably a good thing even though I don't have much money but it means I can get specialist items now.

About my situation, I really haven't done any kind of prepping at all in terms of actually acquiring goods and items, I haven't started yet. However I have done a lot of research on every aspect i can think of in my preparation for prepping ;) , and i think i have a clear strategy in front of me. I think I'm about ready to start the acquisition side of things. And finally I work in health care. Yikes that post was longer than I expected, anyway.

I'm looking forward to hopefully getting some tips and sharing info.

Hello and welcome.

"I'm looking forward to hopefully getting some tips and sharing info"....
What we did......1. Started with a bag (or box) in the car. 2. Bug-Out-Bag 3. House plan. We are still working on it and revising plans all the time. Last week we had a brothers meeting (3 of us) to get all our opinions on the table. A great time and as a result we've got all 3 of us agreeing on a plan. Up until that point one of us thought it all a joke!!! The one thing that swung it was that we were not talking about the end of the world, but the end of the world as we know it. That makes the whole thing more palatable.
