Firstly; start small...

Read the threads on here, pick up one tin extra of food that you already eat each time you shop. save the drinks bottles and reuse them for water storage

For equipment, poundland or 99p shops stock camping equipment as do Army surplus stores.

Hello, and welcome to UK Preppers.

Grab a cuppa and have a read through the boards There's lots of good stuff on here. Try not to feel overwhelmed by it all; just start small and do what you can when you can. A good place to start is to gather enough food/water for a week to keep you going in an emergency situation, Then start to think about alternative light/heat sources, in case of a power cut. A couple of wind up lanterns perhaps, and some candles. A camping stove so that you can heat food if the power is off. Things will all start to fall into place. You're here, that's the main thing.

Enjoy the site and don't hesitate to ask questions. There's always people here to help.

Just my tuppence , skills are the best preps around , yes equipment and food is important , but skills are prime , invest in what you can and they will pay dividends in any situation.

When do you think it will happen?
Will the preparations that you make be useful in other situations?

Take it easy. Its no rush.

Welcome aboard, As already mentioned, Knowledge is the first thing to master, then think about what kit you need to be able to use that knowledge, I used to buy cheap kit, and usually ended up buying twice, or three times, better to save for a bit longer and buy once and not have to find a new home for the cheap stuff.

thanks every one for your response and already have a bug out bag ,just need to start filling it and get the right balance ,of equipment ,any sugesstions on a starter pack or cooking ,food,knifes ,sleeping ,saw ,,,just in the process of what to buy first ,,,,i think a visit to a army store is the best idea and take a notepad as to what i may need ,,thanks brain is ticking over now

I had a small and large bug out bag when I started here. Since then I prepared a nice box for my wife's car (no, not a coffin) which she appreciated. Now I'm prepping in 3 different ways. 1-Car kit (ie things that are really only needed in a car + boots etc), 2-Bug Our Bags (large and small), 3-Three day to three month home plan which is just starting (including food, water, new cooking skills and from scratch, hand tools etc). Current ideas include only buying items that can either be recharged or are wind-up. The ideas on this site are plentiful. Someone on here even bought a grain mill. My wife just shook her head when I told her.....but in the end one will be mine!!!!
