Do you take your pets with or not?

Post by maxilaura »

Hi

I have two lovely little mutts who I adore. On searching some of the other sites online, I've only come across one in which they provide a list for a EVAC bag for pets.

I was wondering what the majority of preppers would do should tshtf or the like, and you had to bug out, would you take your dog / cat with you?

Thanks
:)

My mutt is coming with me, I would rather she survived than a lot of people I know

Here's a pic of her in her "Bug Out" gear :D

We don't have a pet big enough to be of use, except as a small meal possibly.

A dog I would probably take, a cat would be let loose.

I think I would rather starve than have my dogs as a meal - never ever ever. But the pet rabbit on the other hand, is a maybe.....

I'm not bugging out unless absolutely necessary, If I do, my two cats are coming with me. I know that's not necessarily rational, depending on the situation but that's what i'd be doing, end of story..

Yeah, whenever I’ve seen this topic come up on American sites the majority plan seems to be ‘euthanasia’. :o

I've got a dog and she'd defiantly be going with us, although like scoobie, bugging out for me really would be a last resort. Sure she'd need food, (another thing to add to the list) and dogs bark - that could give our position away.... but they’ve also a much better sense of smell and hearing, and a fiercely loyal, making them an asset.

Also I think it’s important to consider the impact on family moral of killing or abandoning the dog...

I think pets are more than just pets - a cat is pest control, a dog is security guard. And both are a companion which makes all the difference re mental health and moral.

Agreed. I'd be taking mine, plus the neighbours (he doesn't look after the little mite properly so the little fella lives in mine anyway).
