I am not the most techno savvy bloke. When I check who is online I see humans and then I see 'Google Bot' and msm bot. Can anyone tell me what this is please?

Scooby did say - it's something to do with the site being able to be picked up by search engines, as far as I know (which would be very little! ) Nothing sinister, though.

The various search engines have an automated system, that continually searches the web to allow them to add sites to the relevant sections when you do a search. Most sites will encourage this search by the use of sitemaps etc allowing the bots to reference them quickly.

For commercial sites, it's all about trying to get on the first page that is returned by any search a prospective customer may do.
