Just out of interest: Lidl Germany's balcony system offerings...

https://www.lidl.de/q/search?q=solar&price=60+-+1100

They do an ecoflex stream with flexible panels for €399 Not bad. Or 2x 430W bifacials for €299
They have flexible or rigid panels on offer at various prices.

I wonder what offerings we will get? I bet they sell out very quickly.

Good video on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgyX8yspFqE

Looks at the impact of the Gov not including batteries in the new balcony legislation and how it effects how much money you can't now save.

Also, sounds like the fine print states that you have to buy a complete system when they come out - self builds dont count.

I noticed that.
Even in Germany, there is an equivelent of the G98 process. There will be a few unhappy first adopters. And a few creative G98 submitters.

Are they really going to be able to check device type? Smart meter will indicate that we are exporting, but any old submitted G98 ( equiv ) would explain that away.

The video suggests that the G98 registration process needs to be updated. My guess is that they will add a list of "approved" balcony systems, and you select from that. And if you ain't on the list, you ain't coming in...

Might be cynical, but there is a whiff of stitch up here...

Arrived today, put a plug on it now waiting for the day it becomes legal
Bored so just set up system purely for testing purposes you understand. :tinfoil

Ecoflow app so fast and easy set up, showing my solar wattage and what is going into the house (no smart meter to show actual house usage)

Very happy with the outcome, time to turn it off until the 27th........

so do you have an old fashioned meter rather than a smart one?

Yes Gerald an older model, not a smart meter.

I'm not that bothered with exporting excess back to the Grid, rather just to cover the house baseload of my fridge/ router.

I have a separate Jackery system that powers my laptop/phone.

Added a second panel today

Two 415w panels lying flat on the ground partial shade pulling 116w and 143w respectivley, so 261watts total. This will cover my houses base load from the 27th onwards. (Fridge/router), not worried about excess going back to the grid.

I have a seperate 415w (x2) set up for my 12 Kw Jackery powerstation and a 200w set up for the E1000w one.

I need something which will allow me to hang my solar panel out of a window as I don't have a garden in this house. I suppose I could lay it flat over the hedge which comes up to the height of the window sill on the ground floor, but I'd be terrified someone stole it.
