Not long ago I bought a CREE Led head torch and have to say it beats any other torch out there hands down. It gives so much light and has a zoom option when you want to focus the light on something distant and even has a strobe option if you ever find yourself in a situation when you need to get noticed. From now on I only buy CREE Led.

I recently did a trade with a guy for a Mag-Lite torch.
It is a monster at 19.5" long and weighs a ton.

It takes 6 D batteries, fortunately he included 6 rechargable ones. :D

Unfortunately I don't have a charger that does D batteries. :(

I have no idea what model it is but a quick check on the net makes me think it might be called a D Cell.

All I know is, this aint gonna fit in my pocket.

If you have a charger for AA batteries why not invest in a set of AA Eneloop's and a set of AA to D cell converters. The Eneloops have more capacity than the typical D cell and don't self discharge. The whole caboodle will last longer and be significantly lighter in weight.

Or nip down to Wilko's - they do a D x 4 charger!

I like the look of the converters. Am I right in thinking that each one just takes 1 AA battery or am I reading it wrong?

£1.99 for 2 sounds like a bargain.

The Eneloops look good as well but I didn't see a price for them. I am guessing they aren't cheap though.

Any idea on the price would be a big help.

I also like the idea of getting a D Cell recharger to have both ends covered.

Thank you both.

I still have a good few old-style Mags.I like them cos they are tough and reliable.I like LED too.
I am amazed Mag have lagged behind in led tech.

If you rate ,then I'll get one!

jansman,

I do have a soft spot for maglites - I upgraded my solitaires with LEDs http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TERRALUX-SOLI ... 4cf9d78cf7
and LED/tail caps on my Mini Maglites.

Both lads chose the Mini maglite camo + upgrades last Christmas!
