Front living room lodger's moving out soon, and I'm not planning on getting another one at least for a few months, maybe never. The room will be empty, apart from one wardrobe. I was wondering what a potential burglar might make of that.

Anyway, I thought of a simple solution that solves another problem. The prep room has got more stuff in it now, so I can't use my exercise mat. So I'll stick it downstairs, lay it out, with a few other bits - instant gym!

Exercise bike in the prep room weighs a ton, so that's staying. I do have enough room to use that.

More an observation on the general increase of food/household items, as I haven't bought them, but I get a regular order of 24 x ramen from Amazon. I usually pay around £8.00. They've now gone up to almost £14! :o

Likewise wired in a new connector and mounted it on the side. Works fine - just a bit of a pain dismantling everything then working out what cables go where.
Post man left a little jiffy bag today had to do a bit of modification..

Deliberately over soldered shouldn't break off this time unless I hit it with a hammer.

Socket was slightly different so attacked the case with a file till the plug fitted

Lodger's got a large 65 kg parcel coming tomorrow. Is it safe to assume Argos will have 2 people deliver it, and that they'll carry it in?

After a reasonably relaxed day waiting we have just taken delivery of all our hay and lucerne bales for next years feed, only the barley straw and sunflower bales to deal with (hopefully) next week. They certainly do not get easier to manhandle into position, I am definitely feeling my age! Still a good strong whisky now which I am sure will aid my recovery!

Been down the allotment and cleared some brambles that were taking over ....

Been shopping

New big power bank for phones / anything else that's usb rechargeable ...

30w usb charger for the above...

2x 2d cell ennergiser packs ..

2x more usb c lanterns plus 2 that take aa cells
(That's all the battery lighting bases covered in think)

https://www.lepro.co.uk/1600lm-usb-rech ... ntern.html

_____________

I've 2 lanterns that take aaa

6 that take aa

4 that take d cell

5 that are us rechargeable

And 4 little solar/ usb lamps that are tiny but do the job..

Not much uses c cells anymore...

That's before moving to the solar pendent lamps which are first to be used in a blackout ready to go in position

And the gas lamps/ oil lamps if needed.. be fair depths of winter the gas lamps would soon take the chill off ..

Oil tends to be a bit smelly old houses no issue with open fires and draughty windows

Dug out my long sleeved t-shirts for the autumn, and winter base layer tops because they were in the same bag. Located my hand warmers. Got my old duvet out. Glad I didn't chuck it. I was a bit warm last night with my new Tog 3, and cold with my Tog 1. The old one is Tog 3, but it's pretty thin and light. I'll air the new one, and pack it away for now. The new one is all-cotton. It's not thick, but it's heavy. Should be ok in cooler weather.

Just done my good deed for the month

Could hear a carry on outside whilst my head was in the loft slinging the big fans out the way from the bed rooms.. hopefully this means it will now warm up :D

Anyhow noise carried on someone clearly upset looked out the window after I'd come down the ladder

My mate and his wife and late teenage kids were all out with a lad laid in the road .. apparently he'd tried to do a wheelie and the bike objected and promptly chucked him off..

Arm grazed legs took the brunt guessing a badly bruised / greenstick type fracture of the thigh ...

Mates wife is sat in the road with him so I go out and offer my assistance and promptly use my car to protect the victim and my mates wife who's a former nurse Amber beacons lit flashing merrily

And the fact im still in my head to toe high vis work wear to direct traffic ...

His mum screeched to a halt and managed to coax him to her car and off to hospital as no one fancied a 4+ hour wait

Mum was exceedingly thankfull which was nice total cost a medium bandage and a foil blanket

But it would be.nice to think someone would help my kids when they are out roaming about

Surprised I got no abuse but then again if you saw the state of my work clothes they are or were high vis this morning before mending a forklift.. then putting out a fire then changing a motor they now look more black than orange and yellow  the rough scruffy burley mechanic look people are usually strangely complient

Did have one bloke nearly skittle me changing my front wheel a few years ago then stop to have a go.... no threats returned but I think my big breaker bar (which id used to undo the wheel nuts and general demeanor ) let mr suit know i was really not in the mood and he couldn't get away fast enough yet initially was happy to stop and gob off out his window till I stood up :?

And well done gg yourself

One more random one was a police car pulled up last year to see what i was parked in a funny place for .. only for the police man to be intercepted by the local vicar in his colar saying I'd stopped to help him (flat tyre) his wife knows my wife and I went to help  policeman asked if we needed anything .. nope fortunately I'd already stuffed the knackered wheel in his boot or he would have got a ticket
