Prax oil refinery

Post by bobble »

Apparently the Prax Oil Refinery in Lincs has gone bust! Its one of only 6 refineries left in the UK and the govt is trying to find a buyer for the company. They also have 200 petrol stations. There will probly be some knock-on effect from this down the line, either in fuel shortages or price increases. ☹️

Or, the government could nationalise it, and keep it open. This is always the case when any company is threatening closure and redundancies.

As an aside, I once got made redundant. Part of my job was to resolve customer complaints. But the owners objected to me doing that. They wanted me to just ignore them. Anyway, soon after I was made redundant, the whole company went bust. It was a household name, but was under invested, and taken over by these idiots.

I think if they did this, a lot of folk up here would be a bit cross considering the government did not lift a finger to save Grangemouth.

That’s all I will say before I start singing Proclaimer songs.

Although they did intervene with British steel earlier this year. Think there's a song buy XTC about British steel too.

I remember it well.

Yes they did intervene this year, because it was the last working blast furnace in the UK, so we'd not be able to make any steel at all, from scratch. There are two being built in Wales, after several were shut down, but it takes years.
