Home Alarm

Post by korolev »

I'm thinking of getting a burglar alarm and I'd like an outside siren.
The problem I have is that I'm in a bungalow with a hipped roof so the only place to put it would be at head height on the front wall and that's obviously very easy for the miscreants to get at.
Any thoughts ?

(we don't have a chimbley either)

Assuming you mean hard wired not the basic diy smart jobbies

You can get bell boxes with the standard polycarbonate outer skin but below that there's a metal inner skin and long screws meaning it takes an age to kill the sounder....

With a standard plastic cover to suit in the colour you want ....

Or full metal back plate and stainless lid

You could make/put an anti-tamper cage around it securely bolted to the brickwork, make sure any cables are not vulnerable.

Joke Alert.......build a chimney then you can get a wood burner.

Not exactly the most aesthetic pleasing solution  OK on a factory or industrial estate

If your wanting fairly simple affair

The texecom veritas r8

https://alertelectrical.com/texecom-ver ... QUQAvD_BwE

I've fitted a few of these over the years 8 zones should be ample

Then

Some of these for rooms your wanting to cover

Saves trying to drop cables in the corner and trying to hide them ..

They also do fire detection you can integrate

Definitely get one anyway, they are a deterrent. You definitely want an outside box so burglars know you are alarmed. I had one fitted 25 years ago, and it's still going strong, touch wood. I had the back about 2 years ago to adjust it so I could leave by the back door, when I go out on my bike. I also got them to quote for a couple of cameras, but it was a bit expensive (£985). That was for IP cameras, 5 megapixels, and a recorder.

They are only any use (alarms) if you have good neighbours ..

There are now modules that you add to the bell outputs com ports of the panel which will send you a push notification via WiFi or GSM depending upon device to let you know it's activated .. one of our clubs has a funky system I can use my phone to check status arm and disarm etc

Ah. Therein lies the rub...

Both sides of us are, to be blunt, twats.

The old ladies opposite are nice, though, as is next-door-but-one.
