Hi from Lancashire

Post by CatInTheTinFoilHat »

I'm a 37 yr old electrician living in Bury. I've been interested in survival/prepping/bushcraft/camping/hiking ever since I was a kid. When I first read The sas survival handbook it grabbed my interest straight away. I soon started making preperations and getting some kit together. My mother used to clean my room when I was out (no way would I have let her do that while I was there!) and ask 'why on earth have you got all those tins of food under your bed?' 30ish years on and I haven't changed much but the general feeling of uneasyness with the way society is headed has only served to make me a more determined prepper. I started growing some fruit and veg in my back garden a couple of years ago to see how things would work out, and I'm glad I started then and not when I really need it. It's certainly been hard work and a steep learning curve and there is a long way to go yet before it would sustain me for any length of time. Potatoes have been my most succesful crop for a large amount of food in a small growing area and they store well through winter. I'm also a keen airgunner and think an air rifle would make an excellent means to catch small game in tough times.
Anyway hope to learn a few things on here, share my thoughts and make some friends.
Stay safe brothers and sisters
Steve

Hi and love the name  I am finding out that growing is a long term learning curve and a bit hit-or-miss lately with the poor weather.

Hi Cat, you're not alone with your garden woe's. I started a couple of years ago and if I had to survive on what I grew I would have starved long ago.
