Just checked the cash stash as paper £20 and £50 notes will not be legal tender after 30th September. Mine are all plastic now. You can still exchange them at banks but shops don't have to take them.

Easy way to tell, plastic ones have a clear, see through, bit on the left.

Worked out average grocery spend Jan-August incl. Sept is £24 lower. I did stock up on coffee, so I've not bought that this month.

Worked out how much gas I used last October (and through the winter) so I can keep an eye on it this October/winter. I put all my figures on UK economy thread. I reckon a shower or washing up uses about 1 kWh and heating on for an hour uses about 6-7 KW. However this is provisional as it might have only been on half an hour. Also, the first hour uses about double subsequent hours, and I only looked at one day where it came on twice for an hour each, maximum.

Ordered some dressing as a couple in my home first aid kit are out of date now. I keep dates on a spreadsheet (Apple Numbers).

Made a note in calendar to check dates on hand wipes in my bugout bag as I think they go out of date next month.

Dug out my softshell trousers today. I've lost weight. They are a bit big, but you can't buy them anymore, so I ourdered some Regatta ones. I've had regatta walking trousers before, but some reviews say the legs on these are a bit narrow. So will have to see. If they are no good I'll send them back. The others are still wearable, just about. I don't wear them often anyway.

Went for eggs, bananas and quark. Got a bag of wholemoal pasta for the food stash. Spent under £3.

Ordered some mitts that convert to fingerless gloves (with thumb holes as well) for indoor typing/trackpad use when heating's off and my hands are cold.
