Re: Gaining Useful Skills
As I have spent the last 8 years in the Car Insurance Claims Sector(was supposed to be a 1 year stop gap - 8 years ago
) and only being 26yrs old, I am at that point where I really need to diversify my skills.
My mother used to be a nurse many moons ago and seeing the care given to my father by a cancer hospice in the last few months of his life spurred me into thinking that I really want a career in helping other people and in the medical profession instead of staying in a profession where quite frankly Insurance Companies do try and scr£w us over.
This is partially why I have joined the WBMSART(to help those that need help) but looking for a more solid career in the medical profession so I know this is cheeky but if anyone currently works in or has recently come out of the medical profession(either EMT/Paramedic route or nursing in an A&E dept) could offer any advice on how to get into this then it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Gaining Useful Skills
For instance in a rabbits liver there is a little black thing about the size of a bean, its softish. This must be removed and disposed of if the liver is to be eaten.I was also told to remove this even if feeding it to my dogs.Personally i dont eat any kind of liver but always fed, liver, kidneys, lungs and hearts to my dogs.I feed the heads to me ferrets and the only thing thats left over after they have finished is the teeth lol.Ive often toyed with the idea of making a blanket out of rabbits skins but never got round to it.

I had thought about this however being also in 26, Im at the time where I wish to start to settle down to a degree also and being away a months away at a time wouldnt do my relationship with the other half nor my family any good at the moment but maybe something worth considering now in a 3yrs time.
Many thanks to all for the advice given, its greatly appreciated.

Nursing in A/E requires you to be first registered as a qualified general nurse (I'm guessing you aren't talking about unqualified nursing/auxilliary work).
As far as I know this is currently an all -graduate entry profession, so you would need to check out local uni to see if they offer the nursing degree.

If you join the TA, don't be surprised if they ship you off to the next war because they are short of bodies.
Any job that helps others is an admirable vocation so good luck to you. Just make sure they don't give you compulsary vaccinations.
